TCM Film Festival 2016

We highly anticipate the TCM Classic Film Festival held each year in Hollywood! This years theme was MOVING PITCURES...

Narrowing down your top picks can be difficult, but we managed to pick three movies on Friday April 29th. Armed with our IDs and a handful of cash, this was our movie line-up:

The Big Sleep (1946)
A Bogart and Bacall classic, this Philp Marlow mystery is full of wit and plot twists.

The Endless Summer (1966)
A Bruce Brown production of two California dudes traveling the world in search of the perfect wave!

Midnight (1939)
A 1930's screwball comedy/romance with an excellent cast. Including Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, Mary Astor and John Barrymore!

After snaking our way through the Hollywood tourists, we started the afternoon with The Big Sleep, (playing at the Egyptian theater) barely making it inside with just a few seats to spare...

We took a pit stop in the elegant Roosevelt Hotel as we waited for the screening of our next film- a documentary about surfing..

There was an casual interview with the Director/Producer Bruce Brown where he talked about how the documentary was made. This film is the grandfather of surf documentaries, and was very cool to see.

We grabbed a quick bite to eat and rushed to get into Midnight. This was going to be the highlight of our night! We grew up on this film. Unfortunately, passholders must love this movie too because no one in the stand-by line was able to get in!

After that initial disappointment, we made our way home. Even though the night ended early, it was still another fun TCMFF. Can't wait till next year!

Till next time!

Sincerely, Vera
